Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Family App ("we", "us") collects, why, and what control you have. Family App is operated by Family App. If anything here is unclear, contact us at your-contact@email.com.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address, and an optional display name.
• Family details — the family name, invite code, and who belongs to it.
• Content you create — recipes (including any photos you upload), meal plans, shopping items, cooking history, notes, and to-dos.
• Notification settings — if you enable reminders, a push subscription token for your device.
• Technical data — standard logs (such as IP address and browser type) generated by our hosting provider for security and reliability.

How we use it

• To provide the app and keep your family's shared content in sync.
• To send the weekly meal-planning reminder, only if you turn it on.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or behavioural tracking.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted providers to run the service. Your data is processed by them only to operate Family App:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and image storage.
• Cloudflare — hosting and content delivery.
• OpenAI — used only when you import a recipe. The recipe's web address or the text you paste is sent to OpenAI to extract the recipe details. Per OpenAI's API terms, data sent through the API is not used to train their models.
• Web Push services — if you enable notifications, your browser's push service (operated by Apple, Google, or Mozilla) delivers them.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Sharing within your family

Content you add is visible to everyone in your family. Anyone with your family's invite code can join and see that shared content, so only share the code with people you trust. Owners can generate a new invite code at any time to retire the old one.

Cookies & local storage

We keep your sign-in session in your browser's local storage so you stay logged in. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Data retention & deletion

• Your content is kept for as long as your family exists.
• You can leave a family at any time from your Profile.
• A family owner can delete the family, which removes its shared data for everyone.
• To delete your account entirely, contact us at your-contact@email.com.

International transfers

Our providers may process and store data in other countries, including the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for these transfers.

Children

Family App isn't directed at children. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "last updated" date above when we do.
